Weekly Insights: Building Bridges...

The world is a very different place today than it has ever been. I think every generation can say this, but we are especially feeling it now. All of the tools we need are at our fingertips, yet we feel the most disconnected than ever. How can that be? We are able to find each other and everything we could ever possibly need by one simple click, yet there is more loneliness, isolation, polarization, and alienation than ever before. If we choose it, we can look like anything we desire, we can become anything we wish, and we can curate an entire identity from scratch if we have the desire to change who we are in this world. The problem is, we have lost those face-to-face connections that bring intimacy, truth, and vulnerability. We have become obsessed with physical desires and have lost our connections to the soil, the wind, the sacred waters, the ancient truths, and the natural world that has been left fighting to co-exist with us. We do our best to stop discomfort before it arrives by seeking pleasure, clicks, or attention. As a whole, instead of embracing our differences, we are rejecting those who disagree with us. Love has been falsely used to fill emptiness instead of creating beautiful connections that nurture our growth and evolution. So, how do we rise above the frequency of the individual in order to create space for the community? There are many themes at play today that are asking us to choose intimacy, connection, and commonalities over ego, duality, and polarization. We only need to face the Light in order to see the journey toward Love.

Together we are better, but what does the word “together” mean to each of us? Are we only together when we are with “our people” who look like us, believe in what we believe in, and have more in common than different? That is just a celebration of sameness. Instead of defining togetherness as sameness, how can we get to the place where we understand that our differences make us stronger? Every human deserves to live in peace and with dignity, and that means that our uniqueness can be accepted instead of being used as a tool to keep us separated. We shouldn’t have to believe in the same things in order to earn the right to be treated with Love and respect. We are in the process of either choosing to tear apart our living family or finding ways to bring it back together. Instead of choosing a side, we can choose to listen to each other and the many beliefs that are different than ours. Instead of joining a “team”, we can choose to stand up for the common good of all living beings. Instead of trying to press our beliefs onto others, we can choose to accept other people’s different beliefs as just as valuable as our own. Instead of contracting inward where our world is defined as what caters to our personal needs, we can choose to use our personal strengths to help serve the planet and other living beings. We can expand in curiosity and inquisitiveness instead of expecting everyone to fall in line with the programming that is spoon fed to society every day. The time has come to expand our identity as living beings. Two things can be true at the same time. We can Love our families, our countries, and our beliefs, and still Love all of the families, countries, and beliefs that exist in this world.

The key to all of this is not dwelling in the doom and gloom of negative possibilities. It is a moment to leap toward the opportunities that present themselves at this time. We are not just observers of reality, but we are active participants in the world that we are all co-creating. Every time we choose to open our hearts, listen to other ideas, build bridges between differences, and use our words, actions, and votes to make positive changes for all living beings, we activate a future that we all deeply desire and that has space for everyone to exist. This world is filled with Love and beauty, and we have endless possibilities to work together for the common good. The future belongs to all of us. There is no time to sit around and wait for someone else to make things happen. This is the time to create the world we have always dreamed of living in – together – and now!
