Essence of the Week: Ginger

Ginger is a root from Indonesia that has been used for centuries as a tonic, digestive healer, and so much more. In the 16th century, Henry VIII recommended Ginger as a remedy for the plague.

Ginger is a natural pain reliever, chi warmer, and mood uplifter. She is great for the intestines, the bowels, and working as a laxative and nausea aid. Ginger is great for circulation and the heart as well as the kidneys. She restores memory and uplifts the emotions, stimulating the nervous system and bringing clarity.

Energetically, Ginger helps to let go of resentment. She addresses the destructive side of fear and un-forgiveness, and creates the space to heal these old wounds. By Loving our perceived enemies, we are learning to Love that person inside of us. Anger is a sign that there is work to be done, and Ginger brings a healing connection and accountability to be able to redirect the focus on the self for inner healing.
