Aromatherapy Share: Essence of the Week - Chamomile, Cape (Eriocephalus punctulatus)...

Cape Chamomile is a Wild-Harvested flower, leaf, and twig essence from South Africa. She grows on rocky slopes and dry shrub-lands in regions with winter rainfall. The genus "Eriocephalus" comes from a Greek word meaning "wool head", which refers to the fluffy seed heads that develop after flowering. The species name "punctulatus" means "small-spotted". Cape Chamomile is used in spiritual cleansing, healing ailments, purification of the energy field, ancestral communication, transitions between life and death, and protection from dis-harmonies.

Cape Chamomile is anti-fungal, anti-inflammation, and anti-histamine. She is great for the skin and addresses rashes, insect bites, burns, boils, wounds, and other skin irritations. Addressing women's issues, she helps with vaginitis, menopause, hot flashes, and menstrual cramps. Cape Chamomile is wonderful for digestion, colitis, and gastrointestinal issues. She also helps the lungs as a respiratory aid and expectorant. The Chamomile family helps insomnia, nervous tension, neuralgia, pain, swelling, and sore muscles.

Energetically, Cape Chamomile is an anti-depressant. She brings peace and calm and she helps instill feelings of wellbeing when anxiety, panic, and nervous tension have taken over. When the inner child needs healing, Cape Chamomile addresses trauma, and intense emotions. She helps to clear stagnation and heavy energies, while helping to connect the upper and lower chakras together as one.

Anoint 5-10 drops of Cape Chamomile onto the area(s) of concern 2-3 times a day for 120 days and journal your experience. For insomnia or nervous tension, apply to the feet before bedtime.
