Elemi is the gum resin of an evergreen tree in the Frankincense family. She is extracted through the tree tapping process, where the tree is cut in order for the resin to flow out. Indigenous Philippians use Elemi for skin issues, respiratory problems, mental clarity, and for protection. She is known as "poor man's Frankincense" because these resins are similar in benefits and also because Elemi is much more easily accessible, and therefore less expensive.
Elemi is anti-viral, anti-fungal, and anti-infection. She is wonderful for the lungs, congestion, and for excess mucus in the body. She helps to heal the stomach, ulcers, colitis, diarrhea, dyspepsia, and a spastic colon. Elemi is also great for the skin, and she works on infected wounds, fungal growths, wrinkles, and even gangrene. She is warming and excellent for circulation and nervous exhaustion.
Energetically, Elemi is a natural protector, cleanser, and bridge that connects us to the higher worlds. When working on our grief, self-confidence, and/or resilience, Elemi shines her calming and joyful vibration for support. She is a wonderful meditation tool that helps us face our greatest challenges with deep inner strength and perseverance. Elemi balances the lower and higher chakras and works to connect us to the reverence we have for our ancestors. She is a great resin for opening our hearts emotionally, and becoming more resilient during the tougher times of our lives.
Anoint 5-10 drops of Elemi onto the crown of the head, over the heart, onto the wrists and neck, or onto the spine for best results. Anoint 2-3 times a day for 120 days and journal your experience. Elemi is a wonderful healer and spiritual guide on this sacred journey of life.
