Aromatherapy Share: Essence of the Week:Rhododendron (Rhododendron anthopogon)...
Rhododendron is a Wild-Harvested leaf and flowering top essence from Nepal that grows between 9,300 and 13,000 feet in altitude. She is the national flower of Nepal and the state flower of Himachal Pradesh in India. "Rhodo" means "rose", and "Dendron" means "tree". At the University of Padova, Italian researchers studied the composition of Rhododendron essential oil and found that some of the compounds were significantly effective at killing off various strains of bacteria.
Rhododendron is anti-viral, anti-fungal, and anti-microbial. She helps us when we have a sore throat, fever, cough, headaches, and seasonal allergies. This high altitude plant supports the liver, kidneys, and adrenals as a natural tonic. She helps the stomach, nausea, constipation, and diarrhea. For the muscles, bones, and joints, she helps to address inflammation, pain, and soreness. Rhododendron is also a natural moisturizer that is good for irritated, inflamed, and dry skin. She helps to create lustrous hair, skin, and energy.
For the heart and the spirit, Rhododendron addresses our fears, anxiety triggers, and stressors. She is very grounding and calming, and helps us move forward in our lives with grace. Rhododendron supports us in manifesting our dreams, and calls in creative, heart-centered manifestations. She is a magnet for energetic connections and helping us link up to our soul family and the support needed to live the highest destiny. She is a meditation aid that is great for the heart, crown, and throat chakras.
Anoint "neat" over the heart 2-3 times a day for 120 days to address the emotional and spiritual benefits, and directly over the organ or system in need. At 120 days, reassess the symptoms and see how best to move forward from there. She is an empowering flower that is a magnet for goodness and blessings.
