Weekly Insights: Collectively Responsible Versus Morally Complicit...

Many spiritual teachings around the world speak of our duty as a society to hold one another accountable for our actions. But what happens when we fail to act? In the Bible, Christianity teaches through Jesus Christ that we are responsible for both our actions and our failures to act. In Buddhism and Hinduism, karma is looked at through individual accountability as well as the collective consequences, when we allow harm to continue to occur right in front of our eyes. Each of us has a moral responsibility to stand up to injustice when we become aware of it. Inaction is proven to cause more harm than not.

This week, Saturn shares her wisdom of action vs consequence with us. When we decide to turn a cheek and become complicit with wrongdoing, Saturn doesn't just let the behavior go without having a say. Inaction holds a heavy weight. The issue becomes more dense and hardened over time. Eventually, it gets so heavy that it drops open and becomes revealed. The one thing we have witnessed in our lives is that all truths eventually come to Light. No matter how hard people try to hide corruption, lies, manipulation, and other forms of betrayal, the more pressure the situation gives to reveal the Truth. Shadows can only hide in the darkness for so long. Eventually, the Light shines on the hidden secrets and allows the illumination of the Truth to help us see everything clearly.

The Full Moon in Scorpio this week is dialed into this concept directly. Scorpio is the astrological sign of hidden truths, transformation, and various power dynamics. When it comes to control, fear, or the shadows that lurk in the darkness, Scorpio helps the Full Moon bring the hidden aspects to the surface. The darkness under the auspice of this Full Moon in Scorpio will actually reveal itself. All we have to do is open our eyes and be willing to see the Truth. Once we see the Truth, it is our duty and responsibility to act and hold all parties involved to account. Inaction is no longer seen as a neutral behavior when we talk about ethics. Inaction is complicity. When we consciously choose to do nothing, while knowing what we know it is wrong, then we are guilty of helping injustice prevail by continuing to operate under these conditions.

In reflection of our leaders, role models, and others involved in higher leadership positions that directly impact our health, safety, and prosperity, we have to take a stand for what is right and call out what is wrong. If we choose not to, we can only expect to see more darkness, more harm, and more destruction in the areas that provide Light to our lives and realities. When lies are spread, we have to speak the Truth. When hatred is spewed, we have to stand up for Love. When false realities are sold, we have to stand up for Wisdom. Who are we if we stay silent when people are forced to suffer for the benefit of others who have mastered manipulation? This is the question of ethics, values, and personal responsibilities that each of us has to answer for ourselves.

Who do we show up as in this world? Do we stand up for what is right, even when it goes against our personal "team" or "side" of the argument? Do we take a stand for law and order, justice, and accountability? If not, why? This is the perfect week of the year to contemplate who we are versus who we want to show up as in this world. Are we aligned to the Light or the dark? Taking the time to do what the heart is guiding instead of what the ego is directing will always result in a better outcome. Now is a great time to stand up for what is just and righteous in order to let go of the darkness. If not now, when?
