It may take time to actually feel grateful, but by practicing gratitude with a daily journal, meditation, or contemplation is the first step to embodying it. Being grateful during sorrowful times has been scientifically proven to boost the immune system. For the brain, it is said that gratitude helps to reprogram our painful memories into more neutral ones over time. Inside the gratitude is an appreciation that is gained by seeing how much stronger we become after going through a challenge. It is empowering to understand the strength it takes to overcome adversity, and to observe ourselves becoming stronger and stronger with time is extremely empowering. There is so much to be grateful for in life, starting with the act of gratitude itself. Let's practice being grateful every day for something.
