Aromatherapy Share: Essences For This "Back To School" Time of Year...

It's that time of year again, and the kids are going back to school. A new season, new teachers, new friends, and new stresses are here, so we need grounding elements to help put us at ease. There are plants that can help us address change, mental focus, stress, anxiety, and insomnia. Here are some of our recommendations for back to school plant essences that support the most successful back to school season.


A new year brings new challenges, and one of them is just the concept of change. Geranium or Rose Geranium are both wonderful allies during transformation, and Sugandha Kokila and Eucalyptus Mint can be powerful guides during times of change. For the school year, learning new things, and remembering information, Rosemary, the Basils, the Pines, Calamus, Cilantro Leaf, Coriander Seed, and Juniper Berry are all wonderful supporters. Stress and anxiety come with the anticipation of the unexpected. Some energetic calming plants that support these emotions are the Lavenders, Buddha Wood, Siberian Fir, May Chang, Green Myrtle, White Spruce, and Cilantro Leaf. Insomnia can manifest at the beginning of the school year because there is so much on the mind. To calm the mind and help the body rest, the Lavenders, Spikenard, Mace, Green Mandarin, Spanish Marjoram, Palmarosa, Palo Santo, the Petitgrains, Ravensara Aromatica, Blue Yarrow, and Vetiver are all very helpful.


Pick one or more essences that support the needs of the student, and anoint 5-10 drops of each daily for 120 days. For transformation, anoint over the heart. To address memory, anoint onto the crown of the head and nape of the neck. For stress and anxiety, anoint onto the wrists, neck, and spine. To calm the mind and help with insomnia, put drops onto the bottoms of the feet to help ground the energy down and away from the head. Use the plants with intention and follow the heart for guidance.
