Poem of the Week: Speak Up & Speak Out...

A witness to something that happened today,

Felt like it didn't have to go down that way.

She saw injustice and the misuse of power,

And it continued for long over an hour.

She looked around for help to arrive,

While the victims did all they could to survive.

When accountability was called into play,

The rich and powerful threw money their way.

The court case came and she was all they had,

Her story hit home and made the jury mad.

They convicted the felon and put him in jail,

The people cheered because justice prevailed.

The odds were completely against a win,

But the Truth was where the case would begin.

A brave soul stood up and spoke out,

The jury was left without a reasonable doubt.

The lesson was learned that day in court,

Powerful people will do their best to distort.

But the truth will always rise to the top,

Exposing corruption in a one stop shop.

Bringing to Light what was once in hiding,

Debunking fabrications that were colliding.

This all happened because she chose to speak,

A courageous act and blessing so unique.
