Weekly Insights: Ouroboros & The Wheel of Fortune...

The image of the snake eating its own tail is called the Ouroboros. It is an ancient symbol, dating back thousands of years, that has shown up in different cultures and philosophies with many different meanings and layers of understanding. Representing a circle of evolution, there is both the end and the beginning displayed. It is the symbol of life, death, and rebirth that explains a story of how the destruction of one energy can breathe life into a completely new creation. The circle tells a story of timelessness, boundlessness, eternal life, and how the snake sustains itself on its own energy. It also represents independence and self-reliance, and is a great reminder of how change can feed our souls when it is for our greater good. Sometimes the death of one aspect of reality is the very thing that can breathe life right back into it once again. It is also a wonderful representation of the fact that everything is within us to transform our lives. We don't have to look outside of ourselves for the answers. The natural cycles of life support us in manifesting something new, while releasing what no longer serves our highest good at the same time.

This symbol is a visual representation of the paradox of life. Sometimes while we are nourishing the soul with something we Love, we can also be slowly destroying ourselves at the same time. Some cycles in life can feel like they are there to serve us in a positive way, but when we step back to see the bigger picture, we can find ourselves being cursed by the very thing that was once a blessing. It can also be an example of the energies that are paradoxical in this reality. While they may seem to be powerful and amazing on one hand, they can actually be consuming everything that is most important to us on the other. This symbol can be a wake-up call for us all to self-reflect and self-evaluate our choices and how they are manifesting for both ourselves and for others. Much like "The Wheel of Fortune" archetype, we get to choose the path we wish to take, as well as the consequences of our choices. Our actions can act like catalysts for growth or like curses that lead us to shortcomings, early endings, or complete stagnancy. It is up to us to decide. We see this in our realities every day. Some personal choices end up consuming everything good that has been created until it completely falls apart. Our choices through the various cycles we go through in life define how we shift in mental, emotional, and physical form.

It is also a symbol of the return to where we have begun. We are birthed from Spirit, we live life, we learn and grow, and we eventually die and return to right back to Spirit. The Ouroboros is the representation of this process of integration, and how all things come from Light and eventually return right back to the Light after integrating the lessons and wisdom that have been extracted. Sometimes nothing has been learned and we continue to repeat the same behavior over and over again. This is the challenge of "eating our own tail". We keep cycling through patterns that may or may not be serving our greater good until we wake up and decide that positive change is necessary to grow.

At the end of every cycle in our lives, we eventually make our way back to ourselves. The Ouroboros is a visual example of how an individual on this life journey arrives in pure form out of Divine consciousness, goes through trials and tests, confronts the darkest shadows, learns, grows, and evolves, and eventually returns to pure consciousness. In the end is the beginning and the beginning is the end. Lifetime after lifetime, we learn from different versions of who we have been and evolve as a soul. The question is, what lesson are we currently learning and growing from today? Are we open to changing form, or are we "eating our own tail" and destroying everything good that we are working to manifest? Between eclipses, we are being asked to cut out the destructive energies in order to make more space for our creations. As long as we continue to shift and change on this sacred life journey, then we are able to grow in the flow. May we have the strength of will and the will of strength to embrace our personal evolutionary cycles, and may all beings wake up to the brilliance and radiance of Light that comes from living the most authentic and aligned lives for the greatest and highest good of all...or better.
