"Wake up to find out that you are the eyes of the world."
- Robert Hunter
When we take in the world and one another, our observations move through filters based on who we are, when we incarnated onto the Earth, and what we have grown to learn through our various exposures, upbringings, and life experiences. Some of us are very outspoken about our beliefs and perceptions, and others are silent observers of it all - never allowing personal opinions to be out in the open. Unfortunately, sometimes the loudest, most controversial, and boldest opinions are the ones that get the most attention. Sometimes our "problem" with something we dislike in this world has come from the memory of a traumatic experience we have had in our lives, and it doesn't really reflect the truth of what is actually unfolding. However, it is difficult to change the mind and our perceptions when the brain has been wired to believe something for so long. Just like a clean filter on a camera lens that is photographing our reality, each of us owes the rest of the world, and society as a whole, our willingness to clean and clear the lens of the mind in order to get the most accurate picture of our shared reality. However, not everyone is willing to confront this and work on painful memories, major life challenges, or past traumas. Some of our "pictures of reality" come out blurry or even inaccurate due to the cloudiness of the Pain Body. This effects everyone and everything we encounter in our lives. Each experience and relationship we have moves through these filters. If we want to change our experiences, we have to work on what is going on deep inside of us. This is the key to our happiness, success, and fulfillment.
When we approach one another in this great big world we live in, it is important to remember that everyone suffers and everyone has pain stored somewhere deep inside. It takes one small thing to trigger all of that pain to come rushing back in, unless we have done the work to heal the deep wounds inside. Because we have come from different backgrounds, we can never truly understand each other on these heavier heart levels. What we can do is meet each other on the level of compassion, mutual respect, Love, support, and friendship. Each of us holds the eyes of our own personal worlds. The question is, what do we envision for ourselves? What kind of human do we want to be in this big world? The answer depends on what we are willing to do to better ourselves.
What can we do for ourselves to heal what is stored so deep inside? The most simple, free, and powerful thing we can all do is to begin with the breath. The breath is the beginning of life, and when it leaves, we leave the Earth. Our connection to the mind, our thoughts, and our perceptions is all in the hands of the breath. Slowing the breath down to 1-2 breaths per minute, practicing vertical, forward, belly breathing, breathing out of the nostrils instead of the mouth, and taking time to connect, intend, and direct the breath for self-transformation, alchemy, and awakening our true self is the key to creating positive change. This world can be a better place when we all make the choice to breathe consciously every day. The most simple things in life are usually the most powerful. It's time to let go of our pains and merge with the most authentic aspects of who we are so that we can unfold the destiny we were alway meant to live.
