Mudra of the Month: Fish Mudra (Matsayaha) For Brain Balancing...

It's May, the fifth month of the year, and the planetary influence of Mercury stimulates and activates our mental capacities all month long. It is the planet of the intellect, communication, and technology. This month, it is important that we take care of the mind and brain. Finding ways that help to bring harmony and balance to our Central Nervous System will ultimately help us harmonize other areas of our health and our lives. It is the command center of our BEing, and what we think and feel matters to all the other areas of our health and wellness. In order to support the brain in harmony and flow, we are practicing the Fish Mudra this week.

This Mudra supports us as we move forward in our lives in order to help bring eaze and grace. It helps with letting go of unhealthy brain patterns, areas of excess, and unnecessary expenditures of energy. The hands come together to bring the mind to a one-pointed focus. In general, this Mudra helps to harmonize the brain as a whole. By doing so, it can be a catalyst to a more smooth, balanced, and effective manifestation of our goals and dreams.

It works by uniting the Yin and Yang, active and passive, forward and backward, up and down, and inside and outside of who we are as one. Every zodiac sign, planetary influence, element, and organ connects to its counterpart, bringing stimulation, oneness, and the activation of a more harmonious flow of energy. Practice this daily with meditation and feel the benefits of this healing brain Mudra for yourself.

How To Perform The Mudra:

1. Straighten the spine in a comfortable posture sitting, standing, or laying down.

2. Rub your hands together vigorously.

3. Bring the right hand resting on top of the left with the fingers together, stretching the thumbs to a 90* angle.

4. Bring the mudra in front of the solar plexus.

5. Relax your shoulders and elongate the spine, allowing the chest to rise and the chin to gently relax in and up. Close the eyes and focus at the brow (3rd eye) point and smile. Practice this Mudra with a mantra of your choice or with 3-Point Breath (See Below).

3-Point Breath:

Inhale for a count of 20, Hold the breath for a count of 20, Exhale for a count of 20. Repeat this breath for 3 - 11 minutes to calm the mind and bring balance to the brain.
